Carl T. Irmer, age 104 of York, NE, formerly Gresham, NE, died Monday, November 17, 2008 in York. He was born December 9, 1903 to Gustav and Mary (Kiihn) Irmer at his parents home southeast of Gresham. He was baptized on December 9, 1903 and confirmed on Palm Sunday, April 1, 1917 at St. Peterís Lutheran Church, Gresham.
On February 7, 1926 he married Edna M. Dey at St. Peterís. They lived on a farm northeast of Gresham. To this union three children were born: Daryl, Delores, and Norma.
Carl was very active in his church serving on church council and the LLL for many years. In the community, he served on the school board several terms. He worked for the United States Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Office for 30 years, sealing government grain in the 1940ís, and when he retired he was one of three men on the county committee.
Surviviors include: son Daryl (Connie) Irmer of Sun City West, AZ; daughter Delores (Bob) Haberman of Lincoln, NE; daughter Norma (Bob) Gonnerman of Gresham; eight grandchildren and their spouses; fifteen great-grandchildren; two great great- grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, four brothers, 5 sisters, and one grandson in law.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm, Friday, November 21, 2008 at St. Peterís Lutheran Church in Gresham with the Reverends Lee Seetin and Douglas Irmer officiating. Interment followed in Cedar Lawn Cemetery, Gresham. Memorials may be directed to the Lutheran Hour or to the family for later designation.
