Doris Marie Lehr age 97 of York, NE died Saturday, September 23, 2017 in York. She was born January 7, 1920 at Seward, NE to George and Mary (Tinnapple) Lukert. On September 29, 1940, Doris was united in marriage to Edwin Lehr at Seward.
Doris was a longtime member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York. She was also a cook at Emmanuel Faith Lutheran School for many years. She loved quilting, helping with the Orphan Grain Train, and enjoyed visiting her friends at the Hearthstone in York. She loved to ballroom dance and was active in several card clubs around town. She worked hard in her flower garden and loved to cook and entertain friends and family whenever she could. Most of all, Doris loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her son Robert of York, grandsons Chad (Fiance’ Hollie) Lehr of Lincoln, NE, and Jon Powell of Stamford, CN, granddaughters Angie (Scott) Soucie of Omaha, NE, Hilary (Andrew) Rummel of Spring City, PA, Elizabeth (Stuart) Johnson of Anchorage, Alaska and Stephanie (Blake) Ritter of Lincoln, NE; great-granddaughters Brittni and Ashlee Lehr and Genevieve Rummell; son-in-law Jay Powell of Columbus, NE.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Edwin, and daughter Nancy Powell.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 28, 2017 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York with the Reverends Mike Neidow and Ben Kaiser officiating. Burial was in York’s Greenwood Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to her family for later designation.
