At only “4-foot nothing”, she was the epitome of spunkiness and toughness. She was courageous, independent, determined and extremely caring for others. On July 8, 1955 she was married to Ron O. Tharp, and joined his family, gaining two daughters, Diana and Carol. Their lives were filled with camping, fishing, gardening and many beloved dogs. Arlene cared for many people with limitless dedication and love. A friend to every neighbor, wandering pup or stray cat that ever crossed her path, her kind and caring soul touched countless lives.
She is survived by her daughters Diana (Gene) Scow, Carol Thorpe, 4 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed and always loved.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother.

Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 28, 2018 at the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, east of McCool Junction, NE. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM Friday, at the mortuary in York. Memorials may be directed to York Adopt-A-Pet (1511 N Platte Ave, York, NE 68467).
