Arline M. Wilhelm, age 84 of Lincoln, NE, died on Friday, April 10, 2026 in Lincoln.
Arline was born in Albany, MN on August 22, 1941. She is survived by her daughters, Jennifer (Doug) Boon, Nikki (Jeff) Sleddens, and Michelle (Andy) Moses; her grandchildren, Erin (Josh) Hohensee, Will and Quinlan Sleddens, Nathan (Dalia) Boon, Alex Boon, and Mollie and Bennett Moses; and her great-grandchildren, Jackson, Hallie, and Barrett Hohensee. She is also survived by her brothers, Jerry (Ive) Stommes and Lee Stommes; sister, Anne Marie Ralston; aunt, Esther Turbak; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, David; parents, Joseph and Dorothy; brothers, Jim and Hank Stommes; and sister, Mary Jane Vitt.
Following high school, Arline found her true calling in nursing and earned her RN degree from St. Cloud Hospital School of Nursing in 1961, dedicating her career to caring for others. On June 4, 1966, she married the love of her life, David E. Wilhelm. They eventually settled in York, Nebraska, where they raised their family.
Arline and Dave shared a wide circle of friends in York and created countless memories together, golfing, traveling, playing cards, and enjoying what was aptly named “Friday Night Live” at the York Country Club. Following Dave’s retirement, they traveled the world and later shared several trips with their entire family. Among her favorite adventures were trips to China and an African safari.
She found immense joy in her grandchildren and embraced her role as the “adventure grandma.” Whether she was jumping off the diving board, riding swings at the fair, going down slides, dancing, attending sporting events, plays, and musicals, or walking along the beach, she was always ready for fun. She also loved time at the cabin, especially riding around on the “Dancing Queen” and floating. Arline never wanted the party to end, so much so that her friends coined the phrase “pulling an Arline” for anyone slow to leave. Cheers to you, Arline. May you never have to leave the party!
