Born, Jan. 18, 1926 to Dwight and Lillian (Berck) Newcomer on a farm east of Stromsburg where he lived until he graduated from Stromsburg High School in 1943. Bud enlisted and served in the United States Army World War II European Theater.
He attended Nebraska Wesleyan University for two years, where he met Jane Nisley. They married on March 19, 1949 in North Platte. A year later, he graduated from the University of Nebraska and started his career as an inspector with the United States Food and Drug Administration and then spent 39 years in the livestock feed industry as a salesman and sales manager.
Bud was active in the York community where he contributed his time and resources to The First United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge, Sesostris Shrine and The York Senior Center.
Bud is survived by his wife, Jane Newcomer of York; his son, Lee (Karen) of Minnetonka, Minn. and his daughter, Teri (Rick) Adler of Stamford, Conn. and his sister, Lloydell (Duane) Henggeler of Atlanta, Ga. He also leaves nine grandchildren, two nieces and five nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Maurice.
A Memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 13, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church in York with the Reverend Art Phillips officiating.
Private family burial will be in York’s Greenwood Cemetery. Closed casket visitation begins after 1 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary.
