    Barbara J. Bolte, age 83, of York, died Saturday, Aug. 6, 2016 at Henderson.

    She was born Oct. 27, 1932 on a farm in rural York to Burdette and Hattie “Wave” (Hager) Jones. She was a graduate of Sutton High School. On July 12, 1953 she was married to Alvin “Bud” Bolte in rural Saronville.

    Barbara was a longtime member of the McCool United Methodist church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was a 4-H leader and enjoyed taking care of her family, attending her grandchildren’s events, and going to county music concerts. She was a member of the York County 4-H Council, Women’s Extension Club, took care of the 4-H building at the York County fairgrounds, member of the York County Cattle Women’s Auxiliary and the McCool Jct. School Booster Club. Barbara, Bud and their family enjoyed 50 years of attending livestock shows together.

    She is survived by her husband, Bud of York; her children, Steve (Virlyn) Bolte of rural Henderson, Greg (Cynthia) Bolte of McCool Junction and Kim (Paul) Franssen of York. Her grandchildren include Brittany Bolte, Dane Bolte, Justin (Janie) Bolte, Leann (Landon) Heinrichs, Spencer (Katie) Bolte, Preston Bolte, Heather Franssen and Brock (Michelle) Franssen and six great-grandchildren, with two on the way.

    Also surviving are her sisters, Melba Willits of York and Verla Alberts of Saronville and her brothers, Rick (Shirley) Jones of Sutton and Gary (Sue) Jones of Lake Villa, Ill. and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

    She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Betty Monson; an infant sister and one niece and nephew.

    Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church in York with the Reverend Ralph Gaines officiating. Burial will be in York’s Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m., with her family greeting friends later that evening 6:30 – 8 p.m. at the mortuary. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
