Bette J. Peters

    Bette J. Peters, age 81, of York, NE, passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 in Henderson, NE. She was born on April 15, 1943 in York, NE to Alfred and Martha Tonniges. On April 10, 1965 she was united in marriage to Ardean “AJ” Peters in York.

    Bette went to cosmetology school to be a hairdresser. After she married AJ, she became part of the farming operation to help wherever was needed. She enjoyed her life with raising her family and keeping busy with many activities. She was an avid golfer and had many trophies to display. She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church and the York Hospital Auxiliary. She loved spending time with friends playing cards in different clubs. She adored traveling and admiring nature. She was artistic and enjoyed painting and drawing. She fancied antiques and had many cherished items in collection. The one thing she will be remembered most for was being an amazing mother. She was always there when needed to offer support, wisdom and lots of love. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.

    She is survived by her son Garet Peters of York, daughters Lisette (Eric) Liudahl of Omaha, NE, and Stacey (Mark) Michels of York, grandchildren Lauren Peters of Lincoln, NE, Taylor Peters of York, Ashlyn Liudahl of Omaha, Connor Liudahl of Omaha, Megan Michels of York, and Carly Michels of York. She is also survived by her sisters Barbara (Lowell) Shum of Lincoln, Carol (Jim) Dose of Hampton, NE, Judy Burnham of Lincoln, Cindy (Frank) Ahrens of Stromsburg, NE, many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter-in-law Traci, and sister Jaty.

    Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York, with the Reverends Ben Kaiser and Mike Neidow officiating. Interment will follow at York’s Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1-8 p.m. on Monday, with the family greeting friends from 6-7:30 p.m. that evening, all at Metz Mortuary in York. Memorials may be directed to York Emmanuel Lutheran Church.
