Betty L. Cartwright – Metz Mortuary

Betty L. Cartwright, age 86, formerly of York, NE, died Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at Lincoln, NE.  She was born March 11, 1928 in Thayer, NE to Charles and Ida (Kaeding) Heinike. She was baptized on April 28, 1928 and confirmed May 18, 1941 by Pastor Evers at Zion Lutheran Church in Thayer. On December 3, 1949, Betty was united in marriage to Ralph Lee Cartwright in Columbus, NE.  She was a homemaker and had also waitressed for many years.

She is survived by four sons: Dennis (Mikki) Dobbersteine of Lincoln, Terry (Carol) Cartwright of Lincoln, John (Karen) Cartwright of Dallas Center, IA, and Charles Cartwright of Lincoln; two daughters: Jeannie Hengelfelt of Osceola, NE and Tami (Rich) Kastl of Lincoln; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister Delores (Marlin) Pozehl of Seward, NE.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, and one brother.

Betty’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of the Waterford in Lincoln and HoriSun Hospice in Lincoln.

Graveside services are scheduled for 1:00 PM, Saturday, June 14, 2014 at Greenwood Cemetery, York.  Visitation will be held from 1PM-9PM Friday, with family greeting friends from 7PM-8PM that evening at the mortuary. Memorials may be directed to the family.  ​
