Betty L. Heiden, age 87 of York, NE died Sunday, January 11, 2026 in York. She was born on September 16, 1938 to Ralph and Marie (Campain) Rhoades in Stromsburg, NE. On December 14, 1958 she was united in marriage to Merle A. Heiden at St. Paul Lutheran Church in rural York County. She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York.
Betty was a long time employee at Dale Electronics in York. She enjoyed gardening, dancing at the Flying V, and was an avid card player. She loved spending time with her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids.
She is survived by her children Mervin Heiden of Blair, NE, Randy (Sandy) Heiden of Des Moines, IA, Rick Heiden of York, Catherine (Larry) Norquest of York, Rhonda (Aaron) Wlaschin of Columbus, NE, nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, brother Larry Rhoades of York, and sister Frances Lemburg of Grand Island, NE.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter-in-law Cindy Heiden, brother Gene Rhoades and other family members.
Memorial services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 16, 2026 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York. Inurnment to follow at St. Paul’s Cemetery, northeast of York. Betty has been cremated, no viewing. However, family will greet friends one hour prior to the service, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers or plants, memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
