    Brenda Sue Brooke, age 55, of Stromsburg, passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2018 surrounded by her family in Lincoln.
    Brenda was born to Robert (Bob) and Harriet Peterson (Donelson) on May 22, 1962 in Osceola. She was baptized at Salem Lutheran Church in Stromsburg and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Osceola. She was very active in both Luther League and 4-H and graduated from Osceola High School in 1980. She received her associate’s degree in Lincoln in 1982 and began her thirty-five year career as a legal secretary in her hometown. She met her husband, Michael Brooke, and they married on April 30, 1983. They had three children, Ryan, Megan and Allie. Brenda loved attending her children’s sporting events and cooking her famous home cooked meals every time they came home for a weekend. She also enjoyed gardening with her husband, walking and playing with the family dog, and playing pitch or Scattergories with her family. Brenda was the person who would greet everyone with a big hug, smile, and witty remark.
    She is survived by her husband, Michael Brooke; children, Ryan (Abby) Brooke, Megan Brooke and Allie Brooke; parents, Bob and Harriet Peterson; brothers, Tim (Jean) Peterson and Matt (Brenda) Peterson; brothers-in-law, Steve (Julie) Brooke, Brad (Kelly) Brooke and Kevin Brooke; sisters-in-law, Teresa (Tim) Hoppes and Kelly Brooke; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
    She is preceded in death by grandparents, Ernfred and Mae Peterson and Harlen and Marion Donelson; mother-in-law, Mildred Brooke; father-in-law, Jack Brooke; aunt, Carol Peterson and cousin, Gene Moore.
    Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Friday, March 30, 2018 at Faith Lutheran Church in York with the Reverend Dr. Heath Trampe officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery north east of York. Visitation will be held from 1 – 8 p.m. Thursday, March 29, with family greeting friends from 4:30 – 7 p.m. at Metz Mortuary. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
