He was born October 2, 1974 to Becky Schaldecker and Richard Songster in Fremont, NE. Chad was an avid fisherman and could often times be found in a kayak with a pole in hand. He also enjoyed playing pool, arrowhead hunting, collecting antiques, and gardening. But the thing he enjoyed most was spending time with his family and friends. Chad was the most kind and compassionate person anyone could meet. He is beloved by everyone and will be missed greatly.
Chad is survived by his pride and joy, daughter Codi Lyn Todd-Songster of Lincoln, parents Becky (Tim) Benson of Thayer Nebraska and Richard Songster of Arizona, grandfather Jake Schaldecker of Grafton, NE, brother Cory (Lynette) Songster of Thayer, sister Charissa (Nate) Kahler of Thayer, brother Adam (Erin) Benson of Lincoln, five nieces, eight nephews, several aunts, uncles, and cousins, and a slew of friends that are like family (you know who you are).
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Betty Schaldecker, Bob and Pat Songster, and Pat and Joe Schwenk.
A Celebration of Chad’s Life will be held at a later date. Cremation. No viewing or visitation. Memorials may be sent to the family for later designation.
