She was born Jan. 29, 1917 in rural Stromsburg to Oscar and Carolina (Silen) Hansen. On Dec.19, 1939 she was married to Raymond F. Eklund in Stromsburg.
Clarice was a member of the Ladies Aid at the Presbyterian Church in Gresham and the coffee club at the York Senior Center. She enjoyed spending time in her garden, and working in her flower beds. Clarice loved being with her children and grandchildren and was proud to be a farmer’s wife and caregiver.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Wilma Suckstorf, her son Eldon (Beverly) Eklund all of York, Marlene (Richard) Rolenc of Ulysses and Timothy (Jana) Eklund of Davey. Thirteen grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren. Also surviving is one brother, Kenneth Hanson, sister-in-law Ruth Hanson, both of Stromsburg and Arlene Eklund of Bradshaw.
Clarice was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a grandchild, two sisters and six brothers.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. on Monday, April 3, 2017 at the Gresham Presbyterian Church with the Reverend John Nellessen officiating. Graveside services will then be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Stromsburg cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1 – 8 p.m. Sunday, April 2, 2017, with the family greeting friends between the hours of 6 – 8 p.m. that same evening at the mortuary in York. Memorials may be directed to the Gresham Presbyterian Church, or to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
