Dale was drafted into the Army in 1952 and served 18 months in Germany as a medic during the Korean Conflict. On February 22, 1959 Dale was united in marriage to Patricia Heiden at Waco. After returning home, he was a longtime farmer and also worked at EvenTemp in Waco as a machinist until retiring at the age of 75.
Dale was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Waco. He was also a member of the Utica Legion and a lifetime member of the VFW 4755 Seward, NE.
He is survived by his wife Patricia of Waco; children: Sharilyn (Mike) Steube of York, Shelley (Stan) Fritz of Waco, and Steve Brackhan and fiancé Dawn Messmer of Beaver Crossing, NE; grandchildren: Don Ramsey of O’Neill, NE, Nicole Ramsey of Groton, Conn, Tom (Liza) Alderman of Lincoln, NE, Shaughnessy and de Chelly Ramsey of York; Calen and Micah Storjohn of Norfolk, NE, and Tesia (Jamison) Wolfe of Lincoln; and great grandson Desmond Alderman of Lincoln.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Dorothy, daughter Shirdell, and granddaughter Ashley.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM, Thursday, March 6, 2014 at Peace Lutheran Church in Waco with the Reverend Charles Ramsey officiating. Interment with military honors will be held at the Waco Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association (Great Plains Chapter, Lincoln), or family choice. Visitation will be held from 1pm-9pm on Tuesday, and 9am-9pm on Wednesday with family greeting friends from 7pm-8:30pm that evening at the mortuary.
