    Dama F. Lind, age 100, of York, died Sunday, January 16, 2022 at York General Hospital. Dama was born on December 29, 1921 to Henry and Freida (Reisner) Epke. Dama was baptized into St John’s Lutheran Church south of Waco, Nebraska. She attended Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York all of her adult life. Dama married Julian W. Lind on February 3, 1946 at St. John’s Lutheran Church.

    Dama was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Taking care of her family was important to her. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and was so looking forward to becoming a great grandmother later this year. Dama loved cooking and was a terrific pie baker. She enjoyed gardening and had a beautiful rose garden for many years. Dama enjoyed playing dominos and cards with her friends at the Senior Center. She and her husband, Julian, had fun traveling all over the United States. They also loved to get dressed up on Saturday nights to go ballroom dancing. Dama recently celebrated her 100th birthday with a party including her family and close friends. She worked in retail sales for many years.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Julian, and son Michael, her parents, three brothers: Walter, Wilbur and Ralph Epke and five sisters: Alma Epke, Anna Ranes, Norena Rich, Elta Davis and Paula Behmer.

    Left to cherish her memory are her daughter and son in law Marsha and John Nelson of Hastings, grandchildren, Zachary Nelson of Omaha, Whitney (Drew) Petersen of Bennington, and Miles Nelson of Hastings, daughter in law, Carol Lind of Polk, Nebraska and special friend Marge Bredow of York. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews and friends.

    Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 pm, Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church with the Reverends Mike Neidow and Ben Kaiser officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, York. The family requests that those in attendance wear masks. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services. The funeral service will be livestreamed on Emmanuel Lutheran Church’s website at http://www.emmanuelyorkne.com. Memorials may be directed to Emmanuel Lutheran Church or the York Senior Center.
