    Darlene Betty Jean Nienhueser, age 79 of York, died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2016.

    She was born June 28, 1936 to Fermin and Johanna (Bax) Krause in Omaha. She was baptized on Oct. 25, 1936 in Strang and confirmed July 17, 1957 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York. She was united in marriage to Duane Nienhueser on Nov. 16, 1958 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York.

    Darlene had helped Duane with the farm, north of York, their entire married life and raised four children. She also worked at Deluxe Cleaners and York Elementary School. She was a Sunday School teacher, a member of LWML, and a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church.

    She is survived by her husband, Duane of York; children, Douglas (Barbara) Nienhueser of  York, Dennis (Jayna) Nienhueser of York, Brenda (Terry) Rider of Park City, Mont. and Curtis (Kitti) Nienhueser of York; grandchildren, Benjamin (Jennifer) Nienhueser and their children Codey, Leigha and Micah of Waverly, Nicholas (Ashley) Nienhueser and their children Paige and James of York, Dane (Heather) Nienhueser and their son Keegan of York, Meghan (David) Gerken and baby on the way of York, Ryan Nienhueser and friend Nicole of Denver, Colo., Janae (Andy) Greer and baby on the way of Lincoln, Tara Nienhueser and friend Trenton of Kearney, Madilyn Rider of Park City, Seth Nienhueser and fiancé Hayley of  Burr, Joshua Nienhueser of York and Zachary Nienhueser of  York.

    She is also survived by her brother, Melvin (Carolyn) Krause of Geneva; twin sister, Arlene (Virgil) Cohagen of Elm Creek; sister-in-law, Jean Erthum of Saronville and many nieces and nephews.

    She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Erma (Don) Hurst and Lolan Krause.

    Memorial services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Friday, Jan. 15, 2016 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York. Private Family Inurnment. Family will greet friends Thursday evening at Metz Chapel from 7 – 8:30 p.m. Cremation. No Viewing. Memorials may be directed to Mission Central c/o Gary Theis.​​
