David F. Willis

David F. Willis, age 92, of York, NE died Thursday, August 27, 2026 in York. David was born on August 17, 1934, at York Hospital to David and Ida (Sommerfeld) Willis of Bradshaw, Nebraska. From the beginning, his life was rooted in family, community, and the quiet strength that so many came to know and love.

A proud graduate of Bradshaw High School in 1952, David began his early working years at ES Clarke Lumberyard in York. In 1955, he answered the call to serve his country, spending two years in the U.S. Army and receiving the Sharpshooter Good Conduct Medal. After returning home, he built a long and steady career with Champion Home Builders in York, where he worked faithfully until his retirement in 1999. Even after retiring, David remained active and connected by working at the York Country Club for 18 years, something he truly enjoyed.

On November 5, 1966, he married the love of his life, Jane Johnson. Four years later, on November 5, 1970, their hearts and home grew when they adopted their daughter, Lisa, bringing them immense joy.

David was a longtime member of First Evangelical Church of York. He was a proud member of the York Elks Club for more than 66 years. He gave freely of his time and energy, especially to volunteer efforts like Hoop Shoot, where he found great fulfillment in supporting youth in the community.

David is survived by his daughter, Lisa (Todd) Ellis; his cherished granddaughter, Madison, and her husband, Oliver Woodard; and his great-granddaughter, Amelia, all of Omaha. Being a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather was one of his greatest blessings.
