He was born Aug. 15, 1954, in Litchfield, Ill. to Andrew and Jean (Coull) Vavra. Dave was formerly a computer programmer at Epworth Village, and was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, in York. On Aug. 9, 1980, David married Pam Ebke, and to this union, three children were born, Adam, Jacob and Megan.
Dave was an avid sports fan, enjoyed coaching his children’s sports teams and singing in the church choir. He especially enjoyed spending his time outdoors fishing. Dave loved animals and had volunteered at York Adopt-A-Pet.
Dave is survived by his wife, Pam of York; sons, Adam Vavra of York and Jacob Vavra (Emily Young) of Omaha; daughter, Megan Vavra (Jon Moavero) also of Omaha. He is also survived by his brother, Mark Vavra of Decatur, Mich. and sister, Judy Burhans of Huntsville, Ala. along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Debbie Karni.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Friday, May 12, 2017 at Faith Lutheran Church in York with the Reverend Dr. Heath Trampe officiating. Interment will follow at the Greenwood Cemetery in York. Visitation will be held between the hours of 5 – 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 10, 2017 and 9 a.m. – 8 p.m. Thursday, May 11, 2017 with the family greeting friends Thursday evening between the hours of 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. at the mortuary in York. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
