He was born Feb. 3, 1928 at Pleasant Dale to William and Mary (Dolezal) Veleba.
David farmed in the York area and was also employed at York Packing for over 28 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in York, enjoyed going to coffee with friends and attending church.
On Dec. 31, 1957 he was married to Thelma Lena Quiring at Stromsburg.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma of York; his son, Allen Veleba and daughter, Debra Nelsen, all of York; one grandson, Tyler Nelsen, also of York; one sister and many other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Friday, Oct. 16, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church in York with the Reverend Art Phillips officiating. Burial with military honors will be held in York’s Greenwood Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m., Thursday evening at the mortuary.
