Dean John Snyder – Metz Mortuary

    Dean John Snyder
Dean John Snyder age 91 of York, NE passed away Friday, April 21, 2023. He was born in York to John Martin and Helen (Lemkuhl) Snyder on December 9, 1931. Dean enjoyed working on the family farm with the hogs and horses used for farming. He loved baseball. Dean joined the Navy Reserves from 1950-1952. On September 26, 1953 he married Donna Mae McCall at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in York. Dean re-enlisted in the Army from 1954-1956, and was stationed in Kentucky-Black Horse Squadron as a Radio High Speed Operator-Morse Code. Dean and Donna lived and worked on the family farm south of Waco prior moving to York. Dean worked for York County as a road maintainer operator, from there he took over as Veteran Service Officer for York County for 18 years (1984-2002). Dean was Very Passionate and Proud of his work for his fellow Vets and families that sought him out (many from other counties by word of mouth). Dean was a member of the American Legion Bolton Post 19, helped with their annual steak fry and enjoyed the slum feeds. In Dean’s spare time he coached his sons’ baseball teams and helped out with encouraging words for his daughters’ softball games. Dean “EASILY” taught his children the graceful ways of living and working on the family farm from field work to farrowing and feeding hogs, irrigating, baling hay, driving tractors and harvest.
