    Deborah Eileen “Debbie” Briese, age 68 died January 8, 2021 at Paradise Gardens Residential Care Service in Bakersfield, CA. She was born on September 17, 1952 to Charles and Donna Kizzire at Bridgeport, NE. She was baptized and confirmed into the Community of Christ Church. She attended school at The Hill School District 44 and Bayard High School. After High School she attended Business School in Grand Island, Nebraska receiving her degree in secretarial studies.

    While at business school she met Mark Briese. They married on April 18, 1971. To this union three children were born. Debbie was a mother and stay at home mom before beginning her work career. She worked in Gering, NE before they moved to Bradshaw, NE. She worked at Lichti TV and Appliance, Northern Ag., Plains Power and Equipment, Pleasant Hill Grain, and Walmart before retiring in 2016. She enjoyed an active church life. She served as Pastor of Grand Island Community of Christ. She enjoyed her yard flowers, birds, and family including two special friendships in Kathy and Nancy. 

    ​Debbie is survived by her husband Mark of 49 years married. Children: Brent A (Chasity) Briese of Bakersfield, CA, Dawn A (Tim) McILravy of York, NE, and Tracy G. Rasmussen of Bradshaw. Granddaughters Courtney and Sierra Rasmussen, Step Granddaughters Chelsea (Kody) Lotton of Chadron, NE, Jackie (Nate) Lucas of York. Brother Douglas (Lorraine) Kizzire of Bayard, NE. Many nieces and nephews. Two Step Great Grand Children. Also survived by brothers and sisters-in-law Douglas (Beverly) Briese of Elk Point, SD, Larry Briese of Dallas, TX, Elsie (Donald) Fast of O’Neil, NE, Sarah (Mike) Fuller of Lincoln, NE. and Ray Briese of Columbus, NE.

    She was preceded in death by her parents and several aunts, and uncles.                             

    Memorial services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 25, 2021 at the United Methodist Church in Bradshaw with Rev. Frank Swinnea officiating. Cremation. No viewing or visitation. Private family inurnment. COVID 19 funeral guidelines will be implemented with masks required. Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.

    Debbie’s memorial service in Bradshaw will be webcast live on Metz Mortuary’s Facebook Page.

    There will be a second memorial service scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 27, 2021 at the Faith United Church of Christ in Bayard, NE, with the Rev. Tom Smith officiating.
