Denise Maureen Vana, age 67 of York, NE died Thursday, August 21, 2025 in York. Denise was born to Charles and Nancy Vana in Denver, Colorado on November 7, 1957. After the family moved to Nebraska, Denise lived in Beatrice for a time and has lived in York for more than 30 years. During that time, she has received support from both Mosaic and Apace.
Denise met her best friend Rosetta Gould in Beatrice and they were continual roommates until the last few years. They loved watching movies together and Denise would make her fabric covered hangers while the movie played. Denise loved cats and especially loved collecting anything “Garfield.”
She is survived by eight siblings. She was preceded in death by her parents and her friend Rosetta Gould.
While in York, Denise enjoyed the benefits of her “extended family.” There are so many people that knew her, cared about her, gave her the support she needed, made sure there were birthday and holiday celebrations. She and Rosetta took several vacations together. There are too many people to mention, but Denise had a good life.
Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Thursday, September 4, 2025 at Greenwood Cemetery in York with the Reverend Ben Kaiser officiating. Following the graveside service, a time of fellowship will be held at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York. Denise has been cremated there will be no viewing or visitation. In lieu of plants or flowers, memorials may be directed to Mosaic.
