On April 20, 1941 he married Laura Friesen with whom he shared over 68 years of marriage. After moving back to Henderson, they farmed until their retirement in 1982. When they first returned to Henderson, Don also taught at Lushton High School for two years.
Survivors include his wife, Laura, of Henderson, son Stan and Karren Boehr, also of Henderson; daughter Vivian and Bill Pereboom of Littleton, CO; son, Stuart Boehr of Grand Rapids, MN; daughter Laura and Dale Steingard of Henderson; daughter Doris and Dr. Ken Miller of Bellefontaine, OH; and daughter Dr. Brenda and Jody Srof of Goshen, IN. He was blessed with fifteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Sarah Regier of Newton, KS and Rachel Hiebner of Henderson and two sisters-in-law Kay Boehr of Blair and Jean Boehr of Alliquippa, PA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his three brothers Elmer, Melvin, and Ben and sister-in-law Esther Boehr, and brothers-in-law Herman Regier and Harry Hiebner.
Funeral services will be Thursday, February 25, 2010 with Committal Services at 10 a.m. at Metz Mortuary, Henderson followed by a Memorial Service at 11 a.m. at Bethesda Mennonite Church. Visitation will be from 1-9 p.m., Wednesday at Metz Mortuary, Henderson. The family will be present Wednesday evening from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the local church, Bethesda Mennonite.
