Donald E. Dahlgren, age 78, of York, NE, passed away Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at Lincoln, NE. He was born March 31, 1934 at York to Carl and Fern (Wolvin) Dahlgren. Don started his own appliance sales and repair business which later became L&W Service Center in York. He was the manager at L&W for many years and later worked part-time at Lichti’s Appliance.
Don was united in marriage to Joyce Cotner on July 17, 1955 at York. The union was blessed with two sons, Geoffrey and Dennis. Don was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York, the Senior Fun Club, and the Legion Club. He was an avid outdoorsman and Husker sports fan. He also enjoyed doing missionary work for his church.
Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Geoffrey (Ellen) Dahlgren of Seward, NE and Dennis (Donna) Dahlgren of York; four grandchildren, Jennifer Dahlgren of Lincoln, Neil Dahlgren of Seward, NE, Angela Dahlgren of York, and John Dahlgren of Omaha, NE; one great-grandchild, Aubree Dahlgren of York. Don is also survived by his special friend, Marilyn Elkins of York. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, grandson, and one sister, Iona Gray Bristol.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 19, 2012 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York with the Reverend Tim McCall officiating. Burial will follow in York’s Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation begins at 1:00 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary with the family greeting friends Thursday evening from 7-8:30 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
