Donald “Don” D. Schlueter

    Donald “Don” D. Schlueter, age 75 of Waco, NE died suddenly at home on Monday, March 25, 2024. He was born on May 5, 1948 in York, NE to Walter and Esther (Stuhr) Schlueter. Don served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Vietnam War. On July 14, 1979, he was united in marriage to Cheryl Herfkens in Ralston, NE.

    During his working years, Don spent 13 years with York Auto Parts, but the majority of his time was spent with the COOP. He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York. He enjoyed camping, his dogs, and collecting Farmall toys. Don cherished time with his family most of all and will be dearly missed by all of them.

    Don is survived by his wife Cheri of Waco, his children: DJ Nichols of Waco, Genni (Alex) Lekai of Waco, Michelle (Craig) Rooker of LaVista, NE, Miles Schlueter of Lawrence, KS, and Dawn (Jeremy) Lawrey of Lincoln, NE; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and his sister Shirley (Dan) Anderson of Bristol, IL.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, brother and sister-in-law Stan and Jo Schlueter, a stepson, one grandchild, and one great-grandchild.

    Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, March 29, 2024 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York. Burial with military honors will follow at St. John’s Cemetery, south of Waco. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 1-8 pm at the mortuary. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
