Donna Kay Loschen

Donna Kay Loschen, longtime York, NE  resident and wife of Darroll Loschen, passed away in Omaha, Nebraska Saturday, August 15, 2026.

Born on January 4, 1938, in Loup City, Nebraska, to Stan and Amanda Peak, Donna spent her youth in Orleans, Nebraska. She graduated from Orleans High School in 1956, where she proudly cheered for the Orleans Orioles throughout her high school years. She went on to attend Kearney State College, earning a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1960. During her college years, she was a dedicated Kearney State “Loper” cheerleader and an active member of the Sigma Theta Phi Sorority

Donna began her teaching career in Cheyenne, Wyoming, and later taught in Geneva, Nebraska, until her marriage to Dr. Darroll Loschen in Kearney in 1963.

Before moving to Omaha in 2023, Donna was an engaged and devoted member of her community. She was active in the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in York, served with the York Hospital Auxiliary, was a Past President of Chapter HH, P.E.O., and contributed many years of service to the York Foundation Board of Directors.

Donna was well-travelled and enjoyed the many trips and cruises she took both domestically and internationally with close friends and family. She enjoyed sharing the family cabin on Morningstar Lake near Clarks, Nebraska. She was an avid bird-watcher always looking for the next find for her life list. But most of all, she loved spending time with her husband of 62 years, her children, and her grandchildren.

Donna is survived by her devoted husband, Darroll Loschen; her children, David (Lori) Loschen and Deb Loschen, all of Omaha; her beloved grandchildren, Elizabeth (and fiancé, Tyler Hagedorn), Nicholas, and Amanda; her nephews, Ted Gutshall and Andrew Gutshall of Denver, Colorado; her sister-in-law, Kathy Loschen of Kearney; her cousins, Ruth Ann (Neal) Sandell of Polk, Nebraska, and Lois Jane (Joe) Spellman of Bethesda, Maryland; as well as many extended family members and friends.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, her sister Mary Ann (Peak) Gutshall and brothers-in-law Bob Gutshall and Terry Loschen.

A Celebration of life service will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, August 20, 2026 at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in York.  Burial will be at York’s Greenwood Cemetery following services. Visitation will be from 1-8:00 pm Wednesday and with her family greeting friends later that day from 6-7:30 pm all at the mortuary in York.
