Dorothy L. Anderson
Dorothy L. Anderson, age 88, formerly of York, NE, died Saturday, August 25, 2012 at Lincoln, NE. She was born April 16, 1924 at Sidney, NE to Clarence and Lena (Starrett) Millett. She was united in marriage to R. Howard Anderson on March 8, 1946 in Lincoln. Dorothy worked at several places in York during her lifetime including, NPPD, A&T Drug Store, and the Nebraska Center for Women. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in York, United Methodist Women and a local Bridge Club.
Survivors include two sons: Ken Anderson and wife Sharon of Kearney, NE, and Bert Anderson and wife Janet of Lincoln; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Anderson of Lincoln; son-in-law, Mark Nielsen of Omaha, NE; nine grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, son Alan, daughter Jacqueline, and two sisters, Carol Howerter and Evelyn Johnson.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 30, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church in York with the Reverend Art Phillips officiating. Interment will follow in York’s Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Tuesday and all day on Wednesday at Metz Mortuary. The family will be present to greet friends from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Epworth Village in York, First United Methodist Church in York, or to the family for later designation.
