She was born Sept. 13, 1922 to Elmer and Ellen (Pinneo) Gibbins. Over the years, Eileen worked at York General Hospital, Village Inn, and did house cleaning in the York area. She was a member of the United Methodist Church. Eileen enjoyed bird watching, baking pies, working in her garden and any kind of outside work. She also loved to paint, hang wallpaper and had a vast chicken collection. Other interests include milking cows and joking around with family and friends.
Survivors include her sister, Viola Gibbins of York; her niece, Wanda (Marty) Gangle; nephew, Bradley (Cindy) Gibbins and niece, Bonnie (Mark) Vanderwall all of Eugene, Ore. and special friends Donna and Tom Baker of York. Eileen was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Delbert Dean Gibbins and sister-in-law, Wilma Gibbins.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 14, 2014 at Metz Chapel in York. Inurnment will be in York’s Greenwood Cemetery. It was Eileen’s wish to be cremated. There will be no viewing or visitation. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
