Eilene Opal Dickey, age 87 passed away peacefully January 4, 2026 in York, NE. She was born on September 5, 1938 to Herman and Emma (Reetz) Brandt in Rising City, NE. She grew up in Surprise, NE and attended Gresham High School.
Eilene was united in marriage to Norman “Norm” Dickey on June 5, 1955 in Gresham. Together they shared many years of love, partnership, and family life.
Eilene was a devoted mother to five children: LeRoy (Lisa), David (Nancy), Rex (Brenda), Judy, and Brad (Sabrina). Her family was the center of her life, and she took great pride in her children and grandchildren.
Eilene worked many years at Chances R Restaurant and Walmart, where she found great pride in serving others with her warm heart, genuine spirit, dedication and her love for others.
In her free time, Eilene found pride and joy in flowers, gardening, landscaping, and sewing among various other hobbies that she shared with Norm who would bring her vision to life and giving them to others. She and Norm were avid campers and loved traveling, creating countless memories on trips together and with family.
Eilene is survived by her loving husband, Norm; her sons David, Rex, and Brad; her daughter Judy; numerous great grandchildren; special friend Judy Barnes.
She was preceded in death by her parents Herman and Emma and her son, LeRoy; brothers Ervin, Marlin, Dewayne, Wilmer and sister Lois.
Memorial services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 10, 2026 at Faith Lutheran Church in York. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Eilene has been cremated. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
