Elizabeth Ann “Beth” Jenkins, age 100, of York, NE, died on October 3, 2023 in York. She was born on October 30, 1922 to David M. and Jessie V. (Melton) Mohler, on a ranch in Custer County, NE, near Eddyville, NE. The family moved to Central City, NE where Beth started first grade. When she was in third grade, they moved to York, and she continued her education there, graduating from York High School in 1940. On February 2, 1944, she was united in marriage to Raymond E. Jenkins in York.
After high school graduation, Elizabeth was a telephone operator with LT&T. Most recently she was employed at Hearthstone in York as an assistant cook for around 25 years. She was a long-time member of EUB Church in York, and then First United Methodist Church, after the merger. She belonged to United Methodist Women’s organizations and KanDu Extension Club. She loved to sew and crochet, work in the garden, grow plants, and enjoyed working on jigsaw puzzles, among many other interests.
She is survived by her children Larry Jenkins of Ridgecrest, CA, Keith (Jan) Jenkins of Lincoln, NE, Marilyn Nelson of Lincoln, NE, and Bryce (Deb) Jenkins of Geneva, NE, her brother Dean Mohler of Spokane, WA, nine grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather Frank Liedtke, husband Raymond, son Craig, sister Joann Ramsey, brother Byron, and niece Pam Larkins.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 9, 2023 at First United Methodist Church in York, NE with the Reverend Trudy Hanke officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in York. Visitation will be held from 1-8 p.m. on Sunday, with the family greeting friends from 6-7:30, all at Metz Mortuary in York.
