Elvina Mae (Peters) Janzen

    Elvina Mae (Peters) Janzen, age 90, was born May 9, 1934, died May 27, 2024 in Henderson, Nebraska. Her parents were Aaron and Helen Peters. She was baptized June 1, 1952 at Bethesda Mennonite Church. She graduated from Henderson in May 1952. She was married August 12, 1953 to Theodore R. Janzen of Lehigh, Kansas by Art Isaak at Bethesda Mennonite Church. Ted passed away on December 15, 2017.

    She had worked at Memorial Hospital, and Hamilton Manor in Aurora and Rosewood Court in Henderson. Ted and Elvina moved to Henderson from the farm south of Aurora in 1999. Elvina was devoted to the farm and her family as well as being a charter member of Nimble Thimble Quilt Guild and active till the end with Singspiration, Mission Circle, and volunteering at Heritage Park. She loved to travel with Ted to Hawaii, Washington, D.C., Brazil, Alaska, and Canada.

    Elvina is survived by daughter Bonnie McCullough of Sun city, AZ; son Jim (Carol Knieriem) Janzen of Rochester, NY; daughter Sharon (Mark) Watkins of Elizabethtown, PA; Mark (Shelley) Janzen of Aurora, NE; eight grandsons: Issac (Kelly) McCullough, Ira (Melissa) McCullough, Justin (Jenna) Watkins, Luke (Sara) Watkins, Clint (Jillian) Watkins, Tyler (Mallory) Watkins, Joshua (Stephanie) Janzen, and Jacob (Symantha) Janzen; and 13 great grandchildren: Janzen, Jera, Jaelynn, and Jax Watkins; Malachi, Emmaline, Lilyanna, and Theodore Watkins; Conley Watkins; Benjamin Watkins; and Andrew, Aaron, and Allison McCullough. She is also survived by her sister Elvera Suderman of North Newton, KS and brother Stanley Peters of Crown Pointe, IN.

    Elvina was preceded in death by her husband, son-in-law Lee McCullough and great-grandson Eli Watkins.

    Graveside services are scheduled for 9:45 a.m., Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at the Bethesda Mennonite Cemetery at Henderson, followed by the Funeral service at 10:30 a.m., at the Bethesda Mennonite Church in Henderson. Visitation will be held from 1-9 p.m., on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at the mortuary in Henderson. Her family will greet friends and neighbors from 6-8 p.m. that same evening at the mortuary. Memorials may be directed to Heritage Park in Henderson or Mennonite Central Committee.
