    Esther Ida Bulgrin, 97, of Waco, died Monday, March 29, 2010 at York.She was born Sept. 26, 1912, at Thayer to Theodore and Ida (Hankel) Rehrs. She was baptized Oct. 13, 1912 at the home of her parents by Pastor F. Evers. The family moved to the Hampton area in 1914. She attended school at Zion Lutheran School and was confirmed on May 10, 1926 by Pastor H. W. Degner.After several years of employment in York, Esther married Edgar Bulgrin of Waco at Zion Lutheran Church, Hampton on May 8, 1938. They lived on the family farm until 1980 when they retired to the village of Waco. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Waco and an active member of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League.

    Esther is survived by two sons, James (Pauline) Bulgrin of Waco and Denny (Cindy) Bulgrin of Omaha: four daughters, Susan (Ned) Hoffschneider of Waco, Marguerite (David) Dory of Janesville, Wis., Arlys (Ronald) Lupperger of Anderson, S.C., and Noreen (Alan) Songster of Exeter.

    She leaves behind 14 grandchildren, Angela (Curt) Eberspacher, Blake (Malinda) Bulgrin, Eric (Kari) Bulgrin, Karl (Jennifer) Bulgrin, Kurt (Elizabeth) Bulgrin, Carrie (James) Haubensak, Nancy (Joe) Sevening, Chris (Macala) Hoffschneider, Clayton (Kathy) Carlson, Brian (Lynn) Lupperger, Denise (Paul) Robinson, Craig (Katie) Songster, Kevin (Leslie) Songster, and Cara (Jeremy) Stoll.

    Also surviving are 23 great-grandchildren, Emily, Hanah and Sarah Eberspacher; Austin, Landas, Brittlynn and Autumn Bulgrin; Connor and Carter Bulgrin; Sydney Bulgrin, Raylyn, Meradith and Anna Haubensak; Teagan and Julian Sevening; Ensley Hoffschneider and Gavin Gonzales; Alexis Carlson, Kierston Lupperger and Alex Wangler; Brigham and Laney Songster; Kiah Songster; and two sisters-in-law, Frances Rehrs and Sylvia Whitmore, both of York.

    ​Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband in 1998; two sets of infant twin brothers; her twin brother, Lester Rehrs; and her brother, Herbert Rehrs.

    Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, April 1, 2010 at St. John Lutheran Church, Waco, with the Reverend Paul Kern officiating. Interment will be at the St. John Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m.-9 p.m., Wednesday, at Metz Mortuary with the family present to greet friends from 6-8 p.m. that evening.
