Frances “Franny” Alger, age 80 of York, NE died Tuesday, July 21, 2026 at York. Franny was born October 4, 1945 in Fairbury, NE to Melvin and Juanita (MaGee) Houck.
She loved working on puzzles, playing Keno and going to the casinos to gamble. She loved any game of chance. As a member of the Geneva VFW Auxiliary, she loved helping people. Franny was fond of collecting elephants, watching birds and was an avid fisherman. Miller Light was her favorite adult beverage.
She is survived by her children; Dawn (Robin) Sloan and Liz (Ken) Liermann all of York. LaVonne Morris of Indiana and Jodi (Josh) Knudsen of Omaha, NE. Her grandchildren include: Paul, Monica, Casey, Thomas, Nate, Mackenzie, Logan, Jazmine, Cierra, Odin, Calvin and Isabella along with several great grandchildren. Also surviving is her sister Jan Ella of Hebron, NE. Nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Darwin and Keith and her sister Margaret and her good friend Betty.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 6:00 pm Friday, July 24, 2026 at the Geneva Log Cabin in Geneva, NE. Franny has been cremated so there will be no viewing or visitation. Memorials may be directed to her family for later designation.
