    George E. Tobey, age 83, of Gresham, NE, died Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at Seward, NE. 

    He was born December 15, 1930 at Concordia, KS to Paul and Lillian (Pollock) Tobey.  George served in the Air Force, from 1951-1955, during the Korean Conflict.  Following his discharge he was united in marriage to Frances Blair on April 15, 1956 in Gresham.  The union was blessed with two children, Kurt and Jana. 

    George had been employed as a truck driver for Midland By Products in Crete, NE for 20 years.  He was a member of the Gresham Presbyterian Church, American Legion Post #13, and the Volunteer Fire Department in Gresham.  George enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends.

    He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Frances of Gresham; son Kurt Tobey and wife Lisa of Waco, NE; daughter Jana and husband Tim Eklund of Davey, NE; grandchildren:  Amber (Tobias) Tempelmeyer of Beatrice, NE, Dustin Tobey of Lincoln, NE, Derreck (Angie) Tobey of Elkhorn, NE, Darren (Erica) Tobey of Oxford, NE, Brooke (Kelly) Eklund of Lincoln, Blair (Audra) Eklund of Lincoln, and K. Dane (Jorden) Tobey of Kearney, NE; 13 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

    George was preceded in death by his mother; brothers, Robert, Jack, and Donald; and two sisters, Pauline and Betty.

    Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 15, 2014 at the Presbyterian Church in Gresham with the Reverend John Nellessen officiating.  Military graveside services will follow at Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Gresham.  There will be no viewing or visitation at the mortuary or the church.  Memorials may be directed to the Juvenile Diabetes Association.
