Gloria Marie Tonniges, age 87 of York, NE, died Monday, September 2, 2024 in York. She was born on April 2, 1937 to Eldon and Constance (Gulbrandson) Stone, Sr. in York, NE. She was united in marriage on October 25, 1957 to Gale Tonniges in York.
Gloria was a long-time member of First United Methodist Church in York. She enjoyed artwork that included painting and drawing, bowling, square dancing, Bible studies, horses and loved spending time with her family. She belonged to 3L Extension Club, sang with Country Squires and was a 4H leader.
She is survived by daughter Patty (Gary) Pagel of Decatur, Ill, daughter-in-law Karen Tonniges of York, grandchildren Haley (Corey) Graham of Hudson, Ill, Taylor Pagel of Bloomington, Ill, Kolby Pagel of Bloomington, Ill, Ashley Carey of Bellevue, NE, Sean (Heather) Tonniges of West Monroe, LA, great-grandchildren Paxton Carey, Ethny Tonniges, Joshua Tonniges, Belle Tonniges, Noah Tonniges, and Caleb Tonniges, brothers Eldon Stone, Jr of York, NE, and Bill Stone of York, NE. She is also survived by extended family Kevin Yeager of York, NE, and Kelly Yeager of Fairmont, NE.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, son Mike, grandsons Joshua and Derek.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 7, 2024 at Metz Chapel in York, NE, with the Reverend Trudy Hanke officiating. Interment will follow at York’s Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday from 1-8 p.m., with family greeting friends from 6-7:30 p.m. that evening, all at Metz Mortuary in York. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
