    Harold Renken
    Harold F. Renken, age 84 of York, NE, died Sunday, June 16, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born June 11, 1935 to Reinhard M. and Christina (Hansmeier) Renken at Crete, NE.  He served his country as a member of the Unites States Navy during the Korean Conflict from July 13, 1953 to June 8, 1957. On June 25, 1961, Harold was united in marriage to Betty Prokop at Crete.

    Harold retired as a career Nebraska State Trooper. He was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church and was a member of the Lutheran Laymen’s League. He was an avid woodworker, was a wine maker, and enjoyed the outdoors. He valued the time spent with his coffee club, but what meant the most to him was his family and spending time with them.

    Harold is survived by his wife Betty of York, children: Linda (Larry) Wilk of Marion, IN, Roger (Sheila Stratton) Renken of Lincoln, NE, and Brenda (Mel) Sarnowski of York, four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters: Lucille Liebner of Milwaukee, WI and Elaine Keller of Mequon, WI and two sisters in law: Alberta Renken of Crete and Carol Renken of Lincoln. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Reinhard Jr. and Lowell, and one granddaughter.

    Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM, Saturday, June 22, 2019 at Faith Lutheran Church, York with the Reverend Dr. Heath Trampe officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, York. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Mission Central, Faith Lutheran Church, or Orphan Grain Train.

    Visitation will be held from 1-8pm on Thursday, 9am-8pm on Friday, with the family greeting friends Friday evening from 6-7:30 pm, all at the mortuary.
