Janice Lou Siebert

    Janice Lou (Friesen) Siebert, age 91, of Henderson, entered her heavenly home on Tuesday, March 19, 2024. She resided at Legacy Square in Henderson for the past four months. She was born December 7, 1932 at Henderson to Herman I. and Gladys (Huebert) Friesen. She graduated from Henderson High School as Salutatorian of her class in 1950. She was baptized upon confession of faith in her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on May 28, 1950. On August 22, 1950 she was united in marriage to Arlin A. Siebert at Bethesda Mennonite Church Henderson, NE.

    Janice and Arlin made their home on a farm northeast of Henderson where they raised four children, Myron, Janelle, Brenda and Larry. Janice was an active partner on the farm where they raised crops and livestock. She enjoyed baking, canning and making delicious meals for her family. She and Arlin were lifelong members of Bethesda Mennonite Church, where Janice was active in Mission Circle for many years and enjoyed attending Women’s Ministries.

    Janice supported her children in many activities, such as piano lessons, 4H and extracurriculars at school. She carried on this tradition with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, attending their concerts, plays, sporting events and graduations. She was a kind, caring, thoughtful mother, grandma and great-grandma who dearly loved her family.

    Janice and Arlin enjoyed traveling, especially trips to Hawaii and Alaska. After Arlin passed away, she enjoyed traveling with the York Fun Club, including several trips to Branson.

    Left to cherish her memory are daughters Janelle (Bob) Goding of Glendale, WI.; Brenda (Cal) Friesen of Henderson; son Larry (Jeannie) Siebert of Henderson; and daughter-in-law Kathy Siebert of Indio, CA.  Her grandchildren include Jason (Amber) Siebert of Marquette, NE; Joel Siebert of Indio, CA; Nick (Sonia Desai) Goding of Reston VA; Lindsey (Ben Penlesky) Goding of Milwaukee WI; Zach (Jill) Friesen of Omaha; Tracy (Bruce) Cady of Omaha; Jamie (Joe) Miller of Omaha; and Rick (Abby) Siebert of Aurora.  Great grandchildren include Delaney Siebert, Cassidy Siebert, and Kaden Siebert; Ayden Desai-Goding, Adelaide Goding Penlesky, Aubrey and Peyton Friesen, Landon and Weston Cady; Andrie and Van Miller. Baby Siebert will be joining Rick and Abby in September 2024.

    She is also survived by her sisters, Marlene Ott and Joan Friesen, brother-in-law E. James Friesen and brother Lloyd Friesen.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Arlin; son Myron Siebert and granddaughter Jennifer Siebert. She was also preceded in death by parents Herman I. and Gladys Friesen; her father-in-law Aaron Siebert, mother-in-law Margaret Siebert; and brother-in-law-Walter Ott.

    The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff at Legacy Square and Tabitha Hospice for their kind and compassionate care.

    Graveside services will be held at 9:45 a.m., Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Bethesda Mennonite Cemetery at Henderson. Memorial services will follow at 10:30 a.m., at the Bethesda Mennonite Church in Henderson. Visitation will be from 1-9 p.m., Friday, March 22, with the family greeting friends from 7-9 p.m. that evening, all at the Mortuary in Henderson. Memorials may be directed to Bethesda Mennonite Church Livestream or Legacy Square.
