Joan Breen – Mother
Joan Breen, age 94 of Arlington, VA died February 17, 2023 in Arlington. She was born April 25, 1929 in York, NE to Clinton Fisk and Nell Margaret (Clark) Kirkpatrick. On May 24, 1950 she was married to John Breen in Salina, KS.
Joan was a longtime teacher having taught in Ralston, NE.
She is survived by her nephews and nieces; Roger (Connie) Kirkpatrick of Alda, NE, Clark (Linda) Kirkpatrick of York, NE, Ann (Jim) Wurst of Taylor, NE, Teresa Basich of Shreveport, LA, Mark (Cathy) Kirkpatrick of Ryegate, MT, Michael (Becky) Kirkpatrick El Paso, TX, Vaughn Kirkpatrick and Sue (Dan) Adams all of York.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and 3 brothers Frank Kirkpatrick, Tom Kirkpatrick and Dan Kirkpatrick.
A joint Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 10:00 am Thursday, April 30, 2026 at St Joseph Catholic Church in York. Joan’s daughter, Jean Breen, died February 13, 2025 and her life will be celebrated during the same Mass. Both have been cremated so there will be no viewing or visitation. A Rosary service will prayed at 9:30 am before the mass. Joan will be returned to Arlington, Va to be inurned in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. Her daughter Jean will be inurned in the Council Cemetery west of York following services. Information on memorials will be forthcoming.
