JoAnn Reetz – Metz Mortuary

    JoAnn Reetz 
     JoAnn Reetz, age 95 of York, Nebraska, went to her eternal home on Sunday, November 6, 2022 having been surrounded by her loving family.  JoAnn was born on September 25, 1927 to Fred and Mabel (Weaver) Beaver in York. She became a child of God through The Sacrament of Holy Baptism in 1928 in the Methodist Church in York, NE.  She reaffirmed her baptismal faith through The Rite of Confirmation at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, York, NE on June 11, 1946.  Confirming Pastor was Reverend Herman Hopmann.  JoAnn graduated York High School in 1945.

    On June 15, 1947 JoAnn was united in marriage to Melvin Reetz by Reverend Herman Hopmann at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York, NE.  This union was blessed with 75 years together and two daughters, Sharon Kay and Patsy JoAnn.

    JoAnn had worked for Lincoln Telephone and Telegraph Company after graduation until retiring in 1982.  She started at the switchboard and retired as an office manager.  She loved her job.   She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church and enjoyed helping in the Martha’s Circle in Church.  JoAnn was an honored lifetime member of The American Legion Auxiliary.  She enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, traveling, and loved music.  She was always proud of her beautiful roses from her garden. 

    Surviving and mourning JoAnn’s loss while rejoicing in her gain are her husband, two daughters and sons-in-law Sheri and Jim Beins of York, NE/Estes Park, CO and Patsy and Jerry Haggadone of The Villages, FL; four grandchildren, Jeff and Patsy Beins of York, NE, Brian and Sherri Beins of Overland Park, KS, Stacy Rugg of Polk City, IA, Craig and Lisa Stanton of York, NE; six great grandchildren, Ashlyn, Aaron, and AJ Beins, Kylee and Jacey Rugg and Tori Stanton; brother, Bob Beaver of Fremont, NE, and sister-in-law, Shirley Beaver of FL.  Along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.

    JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Jim Beaver of FL; sisters-in-law, BJ Beaver, Vencia Reetz, Shirley Reetz, and Delores Carlson; brothers-in-law, Elvin Reetz, Raymond Reetz, and Easel Carlson and nephew, Jason Reetz.

    Memorial services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York, with the Reverends Mike Neidow and Ben Kaiser officiating.  Memorials may be directed to Emmanuel Lutheran Church.
