John Cecava – Metz Mortuary

Memorial services for John P. “Ernie” Cecava, age 48, of York, who died Friday, Dec. 12, 2014, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 7, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in York. Inurnment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, York. A Rosary will be said at 6:30 p.m., Friday, March 6, 2014 at Metz Mortuary.  Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.

John was born June 15, 1966 at York to Ernest and LaVeta (Bolte) Cecava. John was an industrial painter and worked at Dan Root Painting in Lincoln before working at Prime Painting. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in York and was united in marriage to Teresa Hardesty on June 9, 1990 in York.

John is survived by his son Elijah and fiancée Joslin Stonacek of Lincoln; daughter Haley Cecava of Lincoln; former wife Teresa Cecava of Lincoln; siblings, Donna Cecava of Omaha, Richard (Kristine) Cecava of Omaha, Robert (Fe) Cecava of Corinth, Texas, Patricia (Douglas) Hager of Arvada, Colo., Joseph (Rita) Cecava of Lakewood, Colo. and Michael (Mary) Cecava of Monticello, Ill. and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.​
