Joyce Maronde, age 88 of York, NE, died Monday, February 9, 2026 in York. She was born on October 21, 1937 to Floyd E. and Eva C. (Green) Mason in York County, NE. On June 7, 1958 she was united in marriage to Donald Lee Maronde in St. Paul Lutheran Church, north of York.
Joyce graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a BA and teaching degree. She loved being a member of the Alpha Pi Omega Sorority at UNL. She was an elementary school teacher at York Public Schools for five years. Joyce also was employed at York General Hospital for 25 plus years in the admissions department. She was an avid York Duke and Nebraska sports fan. Joyce loved taking care of her family and was very supportive of her grandchildren’s activities. Don and Joyce loved traveling the country, visiting friends and family, enjoying many destinations in the U.S.
She is survived by her children Denise (Rupert) Blum of Waco, NE, Darren (Kelly) Maronde of Sarcoxie, MO, Danielle (Kim) Kaliff of York, and Dianne (Irvin) Smith of Smyrna, DE; grandchildren Ben (Tiffany) Blum of York, Penny (Josh) Givens of York, Atlanta, Allee, and Ansley Maronde, Linden (Abbey) Kaliff of York, Logan Kaliff of York, Lauren (Trace) Mulligan of York, and Dalton Smith of Smyrna, DE; great-grandchildren Lilly Wilson, Cooper Givens, Knox Givens, Bella Blum, and Baby Kaliff on the way, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Floyd “Sid” Mason, Jr., (Jackie).
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 14, 2026 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York with the Reverend Ben Kaiser officiating. Interment will follow at St. Paul’s Cemetery north of York. Visitation will be held from 1-4 p.m., Friday at Metz Mortuary, then the family will greet friends from 6-7:30 p.m. that evening at the church. Memorials may be directed to York’s Emmanuel Lutheran Church, or the York County Fair Foundation.
