Judith (Judy) Cecilia Johnson, 88, passed away May 29, 2026. She was born on March 29, 1938. Judy spent her life helping others. While a nurse’s aide at York General Hospital, she especially loved caring for newborns. She loved interacting with staff and students as a receptionist at York High School. She was kind and respectful to the inmates while employed with the Nebraska Center For Women in York. Having had furry companions her whole life she was most happy volunteering at York Adopt-A-Pet and helping friends and strangers search for lost pets. Her favorite hobby was researching her Swedish and Native American ancestry.
She is survived by her four sons Keith (Jane), Kerry (Elizabeth), Kris (Amy), and Kurtis (Pam), nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, sister-in-law JeNeane Dodson of Lincoln, nephew Whitney Dodson, and niece Alesia Spangler.
She was preceded in death by her husband Leroy, beloved parents Harold and Dorothy Dodson, and brother Roger.
A reception for friends and family will be held at the York Country Club from 1-3 pm, Saturday, August 8, 2026. She wished any contributions in her memory would be made to York Adopt-A-Pet. The family would like to thank Good Samaritan Society Nursing Home, Osceola and St. Croix Hospice staff for their love and care. A special thank you to friends and neighbors for their friendship and kindness over the years.
