Karla J. Holmes – Metz Mortuary

Karla J. Holmes, age 46 of York, Nebraska died Monday April 7, 2014 at Lincoln, Nebraska.  Karla was born September 13, 1967 at Columbus, NE to Al and Judy (Fyfe) Thomas. She attended Catholic grade schools all her life then graduated from York High School in 1985. After high school, Karla enlisted into the United States Air Force serving her country as a Medical Materiel Craftsman for over 16 years. On March 27, 1998 she was married to Gale D. Holmes in Honolulu, Hawaii.
After her military career she loved being a wife, mother, daughter and sister to her family.

She is survived by her husband Gale and daughters, Chloe age 10 and Allison “Allie” age 5 all of York; parents Al and Judy Thomas of York, her siblings: Mike (Pellie) Thomas of York, Kris (Mike) Beaver of Falls City, NE and Erin (Jeff) Wiens of York; nieces and nephews include: David Thomas, Janae (Jake) Sulzle, Carlee Beaver, Zach Beaver, Taylor Wiens, and Camryn Wiens and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents Joseph and Eleanor Thomas and William and Ruth Fyfe and a niece Michaela Thomas.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 12, 2014 at St Joseph Catholic Church in York with the Reverend Monsignor James Reinert officiating. Burial with military honors will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, York.  A Rosary service will be held 6:30p.m., Friday, April 11, 2014 at the Metz Chapel in York. Visitation will be held from 1pm-9pm on Thursday and Friday from 9am-9pm. Family will also greet friends following the rosary.  Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation to the Kilgore Memorial Library Children’s Section.​
