Larry Vernon Bell, of Wichita, Kansas passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at the age of 81. He was born on February 15, 1944, to Vernon and Phyllis Bell.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Phyllis Bell; his daughter-in-law, Mindy Bell; his brothers-in-law, Bob Bowman and Gary Cole; and his sister-in-law, Linda Bell.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Joan Bell; his sons, Michael, Jeff, and Jonathan; his sister, Judy Bowman; his brother, Rick Bell, sister-in-law Pam Bell and his many cherished grandchildren.
Larry will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his strong work ethic, and the many lives he touched throughout his journey.
Larry volunteered at the Robert Dole VA Hospital in Wichita, Kansas for 15 years and was very proud of his service there, as well he was cherished by his peers.
Larry proudly served his country in the United States Navy beginning in 1962. Following his military service, he built a lifelong career as a railroad engineer, where he dedicated many years, and retired with pride after faithful service.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at 10:30 am Saturday, August 16, 2025, at the Plainfield Cemetery west of Bradshaw, NE. Family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate the life of a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Larry has been cremated there will be no viewing or visitation.
