Leland D. Bills, age 87 of York, NE, died Friday, July 05, 2013 at Lincoln, NE. He was born March 20, 1926 at Arborville, NE to Joseph John and Ruth (Nordstrom) Bills. Leland farmed in the York County area until retiring and moving to York. He was married to Mary Lu Weber on September 23, 1952 at Harmony EUB Church near Bradshaw, NE. They had been married 56 years when Mary Lu passed away in 2008. Leland and Mary Lu volunteered at Epworth Village in York and enjoyed traveling with the York Senior Fun Club.
Leland is survived by son Lynn (Debbie) Bills of Lincoln, NE; daughter Lana (Brian) Hergenrader of Prairie Village, KS; three grandchildren, Sarah (Jereme) Jones of York, David Bills of Lincoln, and Kyle Hergenrader of Prairie Village; three great-grandchildren, Noah Jones of York, Carter Aerts-Bills of Lincoln, and Braeden Hines of Grand Island, NE. Also surviving are sisters-in-law, JoAnn Harry of York, Natalie Weber of Castle Rock, CO, Ellen Weber of McCool Jct.; nieces, nephews and friends. Leland was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 8, 2013 at the Metz Chapel in York with the Reverend Art Phillips officiating. Burial will follow at York’s Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-9 p.m., Sunday at the mortuary, with family greeting friends from 1-3 p.m. Memorials may be directed to York’s Adopt-A-Pet, First United Methodist Church in York, or The Monarch in Lincoln.
