Lena (Wall) Friesen

    Lena (Wall) Friesen, age 95, of Henderson, NE, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, March 20, 2024.

    Lena was born on August 7, 1928 to Jacob W. and Aganetha (Epp) Wall in Chinook, Montana. After the death of her father, she came to Henderson with her mom and two sisters.

    She was baptized by A. W. Friesen and was received into membership at Bethesda Mennonite Church in Henderson.  Lena met and fell in love with Willis Friesen and they were married on October 6, 1946 in Henderson. She and Willis lived in York where their son Bill was born. In 1950 they moved to Henderson where Krystie and Lori were born.   Lena was an active Bethesda Church member where she sang in the Chancel choir and helped with the children’s choir.

    Willis and Lena bought the grocery store in Henderson where she put her baking skills to use managing the bakery. Lena was devoted to her family. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed crocheting, knitting, gardening, putting together puzzles and playing the pump organ.  She enjoyed volunteering during the elections. Lena had a love for all animals, but especially her precious cats.

    Lena is survived by son Bill J (Sue) Friesen of Lincoln, NE, daughters Krystie (Lonnie) Huebert of Lincoln, NE, and Lori (Berdon) Friesen of Henderson, NE; grandchildren Matt (Tammi) Friesen, Michelle (Mike) Rohrer, Shannon Huebert (fiancé James Dunn), Justin (Kristin) Huebert, Jessica (Chad) Tessman, Kylee Friesen, and Derek (Andrea) Friesen, 10 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.

    She was preceded in death by her husband Willis, parents, 2 sisters, Bertha (Willard) Friesen and Martha (Leslie) Friesen, infant brother and infant sister.

    Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at Bethesda Mennonite Cemetery at Henderson. Memorial services will follow at 1:45 p.m., at the Bethesda Mennonite Church in Henderson. There will be no viewing or visitation. Memorials may be directed to Bethesda Mennonite Church or Legacy Square.
