Linda K. Smith

Linda K. Smith, age 78, of York, Nebraska, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Saturday, September 5, 2026, in York. She was born January 24, 1948, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to Clyde and Lorretta (Van Vroon) Blow.

On February 29, 1964, Linda married the love of her life, Gary Lee Smith, in York.

Linda was someone who truly loved being surrounded by the people she cared about. Her son, Curt, was her pride and joy, and she was incredibly proud of him and the life and family he built. Her grandchildren held an equally special place in her heart, and she loved each of them dearly. Being a mom and grandma brought Linda so much happiness, and time spent with her family was always precious to her.

Linda took great pride in keeping a clean, tidy, and organized home, but it was never a home that was too perfect for company. In fact, she loved the unexpected, impromptu visits from friends and family. There was always room for someone to stop by, sit down, visit, and spend time together. Those simple moments with the people she loved meant so much to her.

She enjoyed tending to her garden and spending time with family and friends, and her beloved dog, Zoe, was her constant companion. More recently, Linda worked with preschool children, a role she truly enjoyed. She loved being around the kids and the joy and energy they brought to her days.

She is survived by her son, Curtis Smith of Scottsdale, Arizona; grandsons Alec Smith of Omaha, Nebraska, Jordan Smith of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Grayson Smith of Tempe, Arizona. Also surviving are her sisters-in-law, Carol Smith and Sharon (Donald) Taylor, all of York; along with nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her infant son Jeffery; her brother, Ron Blow; and her sisters, Sharon Edwards and Jacque Hileman.

A Celebration of Life honoring Linda will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026, from 2:00–5:00 p.m. at the Chances R Beer Garden in York. Family and friends are invited to gather together to celebrate Linda’s life and share memories of the wonderful woman she was. Private family inurnment will take place at York’s Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers or plants, memorials may be sent to her family for later designation.
