Lola Elaine Travis, age 94 of York, NE died Friday, August 22, 2025 at York. She was born June 13, 1931 in York to Glen and Pearl (Willcock) Dyer. Lola was united in marriage to James Travis on February 3, 1949 in York. He passed away on March 23, 1999.
She loved having large family dinners and was an exceptional baker and cook. She was an excellent seamstress having made countless items of clothing for herself and family alike. Raising beautiful flowers and tending to her garden was a favorite pastime. Her dogs held a special place in her heart as well.
She is survived by her sons Doug (Diane) Travis and Greg (Colleen) Travis all of York; daughters Kathy (Frank) Wiens of Bradshaw, NE; Lori Singleton of Omaha, NE and Shari Travis and her significant other Scott Eckhardt both of York. Her grandchildren include: Jeff (Erin) Wiens of York; Ryan (Tamara) Wiens of Hampton, NE; Chad (Tracy) Travis of Lincoln, NE; Brandon (Leslie) Travis of York; Kelsey (Shane) Bristol of Fairmont, NE; Lauren (Tyler) Kopietz of Omaha; Alex Singleton also of Omaha; Heather Saltzman – Steinman of York; Michelle (Wes) Ostdiek of Friend, NE; Ashley (Will) Kirkhan of Marysville, KS; her step grandchildren include: Maegan (Troy) West of York; David (Lori) Nuss of Murdock, NE and Derrek (Rebecca) Santistevan of Benedict, NE. 21 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and her sister Delora Dyer.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 28, 2025 at the Metz Chapel in York. Burial will be in York’s Greenwood Cemetery following the service. Visitation will be from 1-8:00 p.m. Wednesday with her family greeting friends from 6-7:30 p.m. that same evening at the mortuary in York. Memorials may be directed to her family for later designation.
