She was born May 5, 1927 in rural Lushton to William P. and Marie (Friesen) Siebert. Lorene was united in marriage to Herman A. Friesen on Aug. 20, 1946. The union was blessed with nine children. Lorene’s greatest joy was taking care of her family. She enjoyed gardening, baking, playing games, working jigsaw puzzles and playing with her grandchildren. She was a member of Bethesda Mennonite Church in Henderson.
Left to cherish her memory are five sons, Homer (Susan) Friesen and Berdon (Lori) Friesen of Henderson, Delwayne (LaVonne) Friesen of Bradshaw, Ardean Friesen of Goshen, Ind. and Ardell (Carol) Friesen of Crete; three daughters, Carol Friesen of Lincoln, Dellene (Matthew) Friesen of Henderson and Nelda (Kip) Riley of Stromsburg; 19 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are five sisters, Norma Friesen and Elvera Huebert of Henderson, Ardena Regier of Ogallala, Alvina (Gordon) Hofer of Bridgewater, S.D. and Lois (Roger) Kroeker of Las Vegas, Nev.
Lorene is preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Lester; daughter-in-law, Joan Friesen and son-in-law, Russell Friesen.
Graveside services will be held at 2:15 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015 at Bethesda Cemetery, Henderson with memorial services following at 3 p.m. at Bethesda Mennonite Church in Henderson. Visitation will be from 1-9 p.m. Friday with the family greeting friends from 6-8 p.m. at the mortuary in Henderson. Memorials may be directed to Gideons International or Bethesda Radio-Live Streaming Fund.
