Lucie Beier
Lucie Beier, age 85, of Roseburg, Oregon died Monday, June 9, 2002, in Roseburg. Lucie was born Dec. 8, 1917, on the family farm northwest of Henderson to Henry P. and Mary (Janzen) Friesen. She graduated from Henderson High School in 1935 and moved to California to work in 1939. She married Ben Beier at Henderson on April 27, 1941, and they established their home in South Gate, Calif., where they raised their family. Lucie was a member of the Immanuel Mennonite Church in Downey, Calif. Lucie and Ben celebrated 61 years of marriage just prior to Ben’s death in May of 2002, and later that year, Lucie moved to Roseburg, Ore.
Lucie is survived by her son, Terry and his wife Cynthia Beier of Phoenix, Ariz.; her daughter, Beverly Beier and her husband Bob Speedy of Roseburg, Ore.; three grandchildren; brother Fred Friesen of Henderson, and sister Sophia Bergen of Sutton.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, June 18, at 2 p.m. at the Bethesda Mennonite cemetery near Henderson.
