Marcia Jacobson – Metz Mortuary

    Marcia L. Jacobson was born March 15, 1944 in Chariton, Iowa to Millard and Ila (Savely) Key.  She passed away August 19, 2021, after suffering strokes caused by Coronary Artery Disease.

    Marcia graduated from York High School in 1962, where she was active in music and drama. She attended Magic Valley Christian College, Albion, Idaho, and York College, York, Nebraska.

    Marcia married Robert L. Jacobson in 1962, and to this union three children were born.  Timothy J. (Marcie) Jacobson of Fort Myers, FL, Sonja R. Jacobson (Bernie Marr) of Fort Myers, FL, and Eric A. (Sonja) Jacobson of Fordland, MO.

    In 1987, Marcia married Jerry R. Byrnes, who preceded her in death April 11, 2010.  Also preceding her in death were her parents, and her In-Laws Don and Dorothy Byrnes.

    Marcia is survived by her brother, Bill Key (Richard Parkins) of Salem, Oregon, her three children, nine grandchildren, Eryn (Aaron), Ryker (Amanda), Shelby, Anika, Kaitlyn, Sophey and Jack, step-sons, Jeff (Carla) Byrnes, Brady Byrnes, and two step-grandsons, Mason and Cooper.

    Marcia was a Senior Sales Director for Mary Kay Cosmetics starting in 1966, and earned the coveted Pink Cadillac, the 1st in the state of Nebraska.  She took private pilot’s lessons, was a member of the League of Human Dignity, Palmer Pals, a Docent for the Anna Bemis Palmer Museum, volunteered for Meals on Wheels, was an active member of The Yorkshire Playhouse participating in performances, ushering, refreshments, and other volunteer opportunities.

    Marcia loved the elderly and children, alike. Her love language was feeding people, cooking for those in need, and caregiving any way she could.  She loved socializing with her community, serving her friends and family, being a “grandmother” to many children in York, and was an active and beloved member of Lifewalk Church.

    Marcia chose cremation with no visitation or services.  She will be buried in Greenwood Cemetery, York, Nebraska.  The family plans a private celebration of Marcia’s life. Memorials may be made to The Yorkshire Playhouse and League of Human Dignity.
